Each month, Pokémon Sword and Shield hosts a different online competition for players to battle in. From December 11-13, the competition will be the Dragon King Cup, where players will be able to use one restricted Pokémon.
Here are the tournament rules, dates, times, and how to register to compete.
The Dragon King Cup rules
The Dragon King Cup is a friendly competition where players will compete in singles battles. Each player can bring six Pokémon in their party, one of which can be a restricted Pokémon from the following list:
- Mewtwo
- Lugia
- Ho-Oh
- Kyogre
- Groudon
- Rayquaza
- Dialga
- Palkia
- Giratina
- Reshiram
- Zekrom
- Kyurem
- Xerneas
- Yveltal
- Zygarde
- Cosmog
- Cosmoem
- Solgaleo
- Lunala
- Necrozma
- Zacian
- Zamazenta
- Eternatus
- Calyrex

Each Pokémon in the party must have the Galar or Battle Ready mark to compete and will be set to level 50 in battle. Players will get a total of seven minutes during the battle.
When and how to sign up
The signup period takes place from November 26 to December 10. You must register during this period if you wish to compete in the Dragon King Cup. You will get a 50 BP reward for signing up for the competition and competing in one battle.
How to sign up:
- Open your Menu and go to the VS Menu
- Select Battle Stadium
- Go to Online Competitions
- Select Search Official Competitions
- Choose the Dragon King Cup Masters Division and sign up
Keep in mind that you won’t be able to sign up if you haven’t collected your rewards from a previous competition. To do this, go to the Mystery Gift option and choose to get rewards from the Battle Stadium.
Once you’ve signed up, all you have left to do is get your party together and wait for the event to begin on December 11. Once you register your team, you can’t make changes to it. So, make sure you have it all ready before you lock it in!
