Pro CS:GO player banned by VALORANT anti-cheat mistake

Professional Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas has been banned by the Riot Games anti-cheat while playing VALORANT on stream. The player accidentally triggered the program after plugging in his phone while in-game he explained.

“I connected my usb charger to my phone and I got disconected by the anti-cheat, can you unlock me please,” he said in a tweet directed to Riot Support and the official VALORANT account.

Apparently this wasn’t the first instance something like this has happened, however, as mixwell revealed G2 Esports streamer Lothar had gone through the same thing in a follow-up tweet.

He also explains that for now he’s unable to play as he waits for Riot to investigate and restore his access to the game. As of the publishing of this article there’s been no update to his situation.

It does beg the question as to what exactly currently triggers the ban and how many false bans will be handed out until they solve these concerns.

Given how many people charge their phones while on the PC, there’s bound to be plenty more cases similar to this.
