As we prepare for the final week of action from the Southeast Asia Dota Pro Circuit Season upper division, the lower division has seen its two eliminated teams decided – as well as one team being promoted for the next season.
SEA’s lower division had a fair few contender to breach into the second season’s upper echelons, with teams such as HOYO, Army Geniuses and ZeroTwo all featuring some well-known players from the region and lineups that are capable of defeating many of the best rosters in the region. One of these teams, Omega Esports, formerly known as Adroit Esports for those wondering, have already shown their strength and secured the top spot in the standings. At the time of writing, Omega sit with a 5-1 record in the round-robin group – with only a series against Army Geniuses remaining tomorrow, which changes nothing for their closest challenger, Lilgun.
On the opposite side of the standings, we also have the two teams which will be eliminated from the lower division already decided. The Myanmar roster of Yangon Galacticos had made a valiant effort to continue in the lower division, but their singular victory in week 2 never counted for much as they would end things in last place. Surprisingly, joining them on the elimination train would be HOYO – a roster which came upon hard times midway through the lower division.
With the departure of Lee “Forev” Sang-don, as he decided to take a competitive break, HOYO struggled to really get their footing again, especially with several different stand-ins over the weeks. With their final attempt at remaining in the lower division met with failure yesterday, HOYO would be eliminated. The SEA DPC League lower division still has two series remaining, one of which decides the second team to reach the upper division for season 2.
