Sony Reveals First Evo Community Tournaments – The Esports Observer

Sony announced via its PlayStation blog the Evo Community Series, three Evo-branded community tournaments played exclusively on PlayStation 4. The annual fighting game tournament brand was acquired by Sony Interactive Entertainment and RTS through a joint venture partnership in March.

The three competitions will run from June 10 – Aug. 3, will feature a total of  120 tournaments, and a total prize pool of $74K USD. All of the tournaments will require an active PS Plus membership.

The three tournaments include the FGC Arcade: Evo Edition (North America, Europe), Evo 2021 Online Warm-up (North America, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Asia), and the Evo 2021 Online Side Tournaments (North America, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, Asia, Japan). These will lead up to Evo 2021 Online, taking place Aug. 6-8, and Aug. 13-15, and will be open to North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America. More details on Evo Online 2021 will be announced in “the coming weeks,” according to Sony.

Games being played (overall, titles vary depending on the competition) include Granblue Fantasy: Versus, Guilty Gear Strive, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, Tekken 7, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON, Skullgirls 2nd Encore, Soulcalibur VI, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[cl-r], and  Street Fighter V: Champion Edition
