Steven “StingeR” Vargas steps down from the active roster he led in battle since The International 2019 qualifying campaign and forward. His place will be temporally taken by Joel Mori “MoOz” Ozambela, who joined beastcoast in the coach position at the end of May 2020
StingeR was a key factor for Team Anvorgesa’s successes last year. Their explosive few last months in the seasons leading up to TI9 secured them a spot at the most important tournament of the year. The International 2019 ticket bought them a short term contract with Infamous, who signed Anvorgesa and became the first South American organization to place in the top 8 on the biggest tournament stage. In the post TI9 shuffle, Stinger and co stayed together but dropped the Infamous banner in favor of beastcoast’s colors.
Unfortunately, the new Dota Pro Circuit season was abruptly suspended when the COVID-19 lockdowns became the norm worldwide, and for some of the competitive teams playing from home also meant dealing with poor internet connection. It’s not only beastcoast who had, at times, to postpone a series or play in the online tournaments with latency disadvantage or even with a stand-in. The situation is the same for most of the teams, but for StingeR, the new situation seems to have taken a heavier toll and until beastcoast will be able to reunite in a training facility, he will step down from the active roster.
The announcement was made by beastcoast just before the team was set to play their first series in the BTS Pro Series: Americas Season 2.
Mori “MoOz” Ozambela returned to the SA scene after a short stint in NA with Clinton “Fear” Loomis’s business associates. Immediately after, he became beastcoast’s coach and for now he will make a swap with StingeR, who will continue to help his teammates with the drafts and overall strategies for the current and upcoming online tournaments.
beastcoast current roster:
- Héctor Antonio “K1” Rodríguez
- Jean Pierre “Chris Luck” Gonzales
- Adrián “Wisper” Céspedes
- Elvis “Scofield” De la Cruz Peña
- Joel Mori “MoOz” Ozambela
