Only one series would be seen today from the Southeast Asian Dota Pro Circuit League as BOOM Esports faced off against T1.
Having beaten Fnatic in a brilliant series just yesterday, BOOM Esports were definitely on a high and hoping to continue on a victorious path all the way into the Major. With Rafli Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman reaching the 11,000 Matchmaking Rating milestone too, the team were definitely looking as though they would take down anyone in their path after their week 1 loss to Neon Esports. Standing in their way today would be T1, who had only played two series thus far – losing to Fnatic in week 1 and beating 496 Gaming in week 2. Now, their first tough series of the week awaited them as they went in search of a victory.
It took almost a full hour to tear the teams apart in game one of the series, with BOOM holding large net worth leads at multiple points – while T1 did their utmost to turn things around and break the control their opponent had. Eventually, their base defense paid off as BOOM had nothing more to give, throwing in the towel and surrendering game one to T1. While making some minor mistakes, BOOM was still able to play a far better game two, which allowed them to tie up the series, thanks to a brilliant Puck from Mikoto, ending 17-1-9 after a singular early death.
T1 were the aggressors in the decisive game three, finding a way to almost entirely snuff out the enemy threat constantly, while building a huge lead too. As T1 assaulted the highground over and over again, BOOM struggled to find a way to claw their way back into game and eventually tapped out, giving T1 a rather straight forward game three victory and a 2-1 series win.
The win will see T1 move up into a provisional third place, overtaking BOOM who dropped into fourth. For BOOM, they will now have a break for a few days before they face TNC Predator on February 10th – while T1 go up against the same squad in just a few short days on February 6th.
