Nintendo’s Splatoon 2 North American Open September 2020 now has a tournament date. The ink-splatting fun begins on September 6 and will run through September 13. While individual contestants may stream their matches, Nintendo will only broadcast the finals of the event on September 13, starting at 10 AM PT.
Registration for the September 2020 tournament is now open. Anyone can register as long as they already have a pre-made team. The only age requirements are that US and Canada contestants must be at least 13 and contestants from Mexico must be at least 18.
Other contestant requirements are fairly obvious, such as requiring to have your own Switch system, a copy of the game, a reliable high-speed internet connection, and a Nintendo Switch Online membership. This tournament will be 100% online-only, exactly like the June and July 2020 tournaments. The deadline to register is the same time as the start date and time (September 6 at 10:00 AM PT), but it might be a good idea to register far earlier than the starting time. It’s just a thought.
Don’t forget to register
730 teams registered for the Splatoon 2 North American June 2020 Open. 698 teams registered for the July 2020 Turf War. As of writing this, 39 teams have already registered, and registration has only been open for a couple of days.
Each member of the winning team (four players per team and one optional sub) will receive digital download codes for Super Smash Ultimate, Mario Tennis Aces, and ARMS.
If there’s anything we need right now, it’s the bright and happy colors of the inklings trying to douse one another with paint. Thanks to the power of Splatoon, a shooter-styled game is part of esports that doesn’t require literal shooting and killing. It’s family-friendly and has enough challenging elements for even big kids (and adults) to play. Splatoon 2 also lets you enjoy the color pink without being judged. It’s okay. We won’t tell anyone.
It’s our secret.
