U.S. Marine Corps partners with Geekletes to promote esports education

The U.S. Marine Corps has teamed up with esports platform Geekletes to promote at-home education for students. As a result, they will host a live stream event to bring together Dallas-Fort Worth students while promoting learning at-home. As students all over the world are missing valuable school time because of COVID-19, they’ll be able to get a good amount of technology education through the broadcast.

The “Geekletes Esports Masterclass” will air today, March 28, at 1:00 p.m. ET and has plenty of content to promote to students. The live stream experience will combine pre-recorded lessons, interactive exercises, and more for those interested in learning about technology. Additionally, both partners hope to inspire a group of young learners to pursue a career in esports or STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

In Geekletes’ official event page, they indicate there will be a few special guests on their live stream. Industry leaders such as radio station K104 and Def Jam will be a part of the broadcast to “bring together the Esports industry, music, politics, and a few other surprises”. Also, they say it’s the best time to introduce esports and new ideas to the Dallas-Fort Worth community and beyond.

There’s an opportunity to provide insight during this critical time! Tune in to tomorrow.. http://gemlive.eventbrite.com  to register! https://twitter.com/TooMagit2Quit/status/1243555763236360192

This isn’t the first time the U.S. military has been involved in esports and education. Earlier this year, the U.S. Marine Corps partnered with Esports Stadium Arlington. This provided top-notch students with one free hour of gameplay at the stadium. They named this The Marine Corps Academic Excellence Program, and it is running from Jan. 17 through April 17.
