Worlds Group Draw scheduled next Tuesday, September 15th

Last Wednesday, September 9th, we could finally know the 22nd team that has qualified for the 2020 League of Legends World Championship.

This last team was Gen.G, who earned a spot in the biggest international tournament after outperforming T1 in the LCK Regional Finals. With that result, T1 will be missing Worlds this year, but we barely had time to regret this sad news.

With all the spots fulfilled and finally knowing what teams have already qualified for both the Main Event and the Play-in Stage, it was just a matter of time for us to know when the Worlds Group Draw was going to take place.

The answer came shortly after the LCK series, through a tweet written by Tyler Erzberger, a journalist for ESPN commonly known as “The Esports Writer”:

As we can see in the tweet, we won’t have to wait for too much to see what the first matches of the Play-in will be, and who are the first three teams of the four groups that are playing in the Main Event.

As a reminder, in the Play-in there are ten teams to be divided into two groups of five. These teams are LGD Gaming, MAD Lions, Team Liquid, PSG Talon, INTZ, Unicorns of Love, Legacy Esports, Rainbow7, V3 Esports, and Papara SuperMassive.

In the Main Event, we will have 16 teams divided into four groups of four, and each group already has three spots occupied by the teams that qualified to the first seeds of their regions. These teams are TOP Esports, JD Gaming, Suning, G2 Esports, Fnatic, Rogue, DAMWON Gaming, DRX, Gen.G, Team SoloMid, FlyQuest, Machi Esports, and the four teams that manage to qualify from the Play-in Stage.
