Among Us has cemented itself as one of the biggest games of 2020, with the new Airship map proving to be a huge hit with fans in 2021.

Currently, Among Us can be played on Xbox, PC, Mobile and Nintendo Switch, and this will soon change to include a few more platforms.

This week has seen developers InnerSloth announce its plans to expand its support, which has limited in the past by the size of the team able to support the game.

The good news is that InnerSloth has built up its development depth and is now ready to bring a version of Among Us to PlayStation consoles later this year.

A message from InnerSloth confirms its plans, telling fans today: “Hop aboard the spaceship with 4-10 players via online play and get to work. Just don’t forget there may be one or more impostors on board ready to sabotage your work and take a deadly swipe at you.

“Among Us originally launched as a teeny, local, mobile only game, and we’re so blown away by how far it’s come. Now we’re even more excited to say it’ll be coming to PlayStation! Wahhh?! We can’t wait for even more people to join our space crew… and potentially eject some of them. With all four maps available to play – from the Skeld to the Airship – it’s going to be a chaotically fun time together.

“There is a lot we could say about Among Us, but truly the best part has been seeing the community gather around our indie title.

“From doodles to entire live action movies and countless streams, we’ve seen a lot of love pouring out for our little space beans.

“Thank you. We hope we can continue giving back that same energy! There are lots of updates we have planned for Among Us, and we can’t wait to take our PlayStation community along for the ride.”

WHEN IS AMONG US COMING TO PS4 AND PS5?

Developers InnerSloth has confirmed that Among Us is coming to PS4 and PS5 in 2021.

The only bad news is that the development team has not shared its plans for when the game will be available.

Based on previous launches, the new version of Among Us could drop at any point, with a lack of build up expected.

Among Us arrived on both Nintendo Switch and Xbox without a lot of warning and there is no reason to think InnerSloth will do something with the PlayStation version.

InnerSloth has also confirmed that when Among Us arrives, the game will support Crossplay and online multiplayer.

And there will also be an exclusive Ratchet & Clank skin, hat, and pet to purchase from the store when the game goes live this year.

And a list of new features confirmed as coming to Among Us could be available when the PS4 version goes live and currently includes these options:

Art style: We’re working on an updated art style for Among Us! Don’t worry though, it’s not too different from what you’re used to. Just cleaner lines and other improvements that’ll make animating it on the backend easier. … But imagine how horrifying it would be if it looked like this though.

15 player lobbies: Gather all your friends because we’re going to expand the lobby sizes! (Don’t have enough friends? Then invite your enemies. Make new enemies. Everyone is now your enemy.)

Colours: There are a total of 6 new colours coming to the update, which we’ll be revealing more in May. Considering all the colours we already have, it was actually kind of difficult to find colours that will automatically be visually distinct from all the other ones.

But in terms of accessibility and colourblindness, we hope to move away from colours being the defining way people identify each other. We’re workshopping ideas for that though.
