The team behind the fan-made Elder Scrolls: Skyrim mod, Beyond Skyrim, has provided a first look at its upcoming Black Marsh expansion.

Elder Scrolls fans likely have a long wait ahead of them for The Elder Scrolls 6, with Bethesda even saying that we won’t be hearing any news about it anytime soon.

In the meantime, fans may be able to scratch their itch for a new Elder Scrolls experience with the incredibly ambitious Beyond Skyrim fan-made mod for Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

The purpose of the mod is to incorporate entire new areas into the game, namely the other provinces of Tamriel, the continent of which Skyrim is a part of.

In the team’s latest development update, we have our first look at the Black Marsh, a location that hasn’t appeared in the mainline games since the very first title in 1994.

The update video feels like it could’ve come from a professional studio, providing detailed glimpses at dense swamps, rustic towns, concept art for enemies, and the reptilian inhabitants known as the Argonians.

As exciting as this may be, it’s unlikely to release any time soon, as it is a fan-made effort, with the Black Marsh expansion only being in development for a year.

Beyond Skyrim also has numerous other projects in the works too, with work being done on other provinces like Morrowind and Cyrodiil.

So far, the only expansion released has been one for the county of Bruma, which is part of Cyrodiil.

More details can be found on the official website, but fans can take some solace in the fact that these future expansions will most probably be out before Elder Scrolls 6.
