Call of Duty could be coming to Nintendo Switch, thanks to a new 10-year deal between Microsoft and Nintendo.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer confirmed Microsoft will work with Nintendo to deliver Call of Duty to its consoles, which could include the Nintendo Switch.

In a tweet, Spencer said: "Microsoft has entered into a 10-year commitment to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo following the merger of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard King. Microsoft is committed to helping bring more games to more people – however they choose to play."

He added: "I'm also pleased to confirm that Microsoft has committed to continue to offer Call of Duty on Steam simultaneously to Xbox after we have closed the merger with Activision Blizzard King."

The move by Microsoft is being seen by some as a concession to US regulators who are scrutinising the firm's bid to buy out gaming giant Activision Blizzard, which publishes Call of Duty titles.

Call of Duty games, including the new Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0, aren't currently available on the Nintendo Switch.

But, if Microsoft and Nintendo get their act together, it could mean Warzone will be playable on the popular hybrid console, which allows gamers to play in portable mode or on a TV.

Some gamers have cast doubt on the diminutive console's ability to play the latest Call of Duty games, however, given the Switch's aging hardware and Call of Duty's recently revamped graphics.

The announcement with Nintendo marks a bigger push to get Call of Duty into the hands of mobile gamers.

This month, pre-registration for Warzone Mobile opened, with gamers able to register their details and play a special version of Battle Royale.

It's tipped to include the original Warzone map Verdansk as well as cross-platform career progression. That means you'll be able to level up your character on the console version of Warzone while playing on your mobile device.
