Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 5: Warzone Stadium opening update for PS4 and Xbox

Activision and developers Infinity Ward have dropped their biggest teaser yet regarding the opening of the Call of Duty Warzone Stadium during Season 5.

The big update is expected to arrive around August 5 and looks set to include some major changes for the Verdansk map.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 5 has been teased during July through little videos and snippets of footage shared by streamers.

Some of this has hinted at the launch of a new train that will follow the realligned rails found across Verdansk.

And other hints have suggested that the Warzone Stadium will be opened in a rather dramatic way.

This includes some kind of explosion ripping off the roof, and blowing out some of the windows and entrances.

This would make for a big change, as the Stadium right now isn’t used very much and doesn’t play a huge role in gameplay.

Unlike other locations, the Stadium is currently closed and while gamers can drop onto the roof and find the loot around the edges, it usually ends up being an easy target for downtown snipers.

But being such a large space, a new area with mulple levels could make it a more centralised loot cave, a bit like Prison.

The Warzone map hasn’t changed much since the game was first released, so fans will be happy to see some big changes revealed.

The Call of Duty Twitter account provided the latest hint that something big is happening with the Stadium, posting a picture of the entrance with the following caption:

“If the Stadium had a name, what would it be? Our doors are open to ideas. Drop ’em below.”

So if there was any doubt left regarding the opening of the Stadium during Warzone Season 5, they can be put to rest.

WHEN DOES CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE SEASON 5 START?

Based on the most recent hints shared by Activision through teaser videos, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 5 release date has been set for August 5, 2020.

This date would stack up with the previous Call of Duty Seasonal updates, and would allow Activision to launch a big patch in the early hours of the morning.

This would help avoid server overloads and help players get back into the game quicker.

While the new map changes would be one of the most talked about Season 5 changes, it should also be noted that Activision will also launch a new Season 5 Battle Pass.

The current Battle Pass will be replaced by the new one, meaning gamers only have a short time to unlock all the cosmetic rewards.

A reminder from Activision adds: “Enjoy small map mosh pits like Rust, Shipment, or Shoot House? The Battle Pass system is packed with blueprints ready for close-quarters entanglements.

“Play steady and effective with the Glacial Polish (42), the Silver Fox (Tier 85) that adds high accuracy and range to an already blazing fast firing SMG, Bloodlines (Tier 89) which is an agile shotgun to efficiently handle business in tight spaces, and quickly swap and finish off opponents with the Gavel (FREE, Tier 55) handgun.

“Loving the long-range battlefield of Verdansk? This Season features blueprints crafted for distance engagements that are frequent in Warzone. Pick them up to kit out the ideal Loadout “Drop for your playstyle. Unlock the Hedgerow (Tier 71), Muckrake (Tier 76), and Brookside (FREE, Tier 81) to snipe to your heart’s content and get more insight on these blueprints from our Designed For Engagement series.

“Plus, at the packed Tier 100, unlock the Emissary, a Legendary Assault Rifle Kilo blueprint that can handle the firefights of Multiplayer and the shoot outs of Warzone.”
