Landing the perfect Deadeye in Overwatch is hard enough, but now you can do everything right and still miss. As spotted by Overwatch 2 players, taking time to line up your shots can still cause them to miss, and it's not exactly clear if this is a nerf or a bug.
This comes as Cassidy's rework for the sequel is already under fire, with Blizzard removing his iconic flashbang ability and swapping it out for a sticky grenade. Given that change, it's possible that his ultimate was also given a major nerf, although no one is totally sure why this was deemed necessary.
Watching a replay of their match, Reddit user Astrofuffles tries to spot why their Deadeye didn't hit an Ana that the ult was clearly locked onto – and for several seconds. But even watching back in slow motion, it's not clear how this happened, as it seems that Ana should have easily been taken down by the shot.
This isn't an isolated incident. Another user, Frozenlew, shared a clip of the same thing happening to them, with Deadeye inexplicably missing a Zarya they were locked onto. Worse still, it seems like the Zarya didn't take any damage whatsoever, wasting the ult entirely.
And again, we see it documented in a clip from Taraih. No one has any idea what's going on, but one thing is clear – Cass's ult isn't doing a whole lot of damage for a DPS character right now.
Unfortunately for Cassidy mains, you might have to wait a while to start playing him at his full potential again. Blizzard has already confirmed that there will be no character balances until season 2, which starts December 6. So, uh, just a few more weeks of inexplicably doing no damage with your ult, alright?
Overwatch 2 is out now, available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
