Destiny 2: 8 Best Quotes

Destiny 2 has been out for a while now and has given its passionate fan base plenty of content to play with. This includes introducing and updating characters. Characters who have given plenty of quotes that are as memorable as the gameplay itself over the course of the game and its expansions.

One of the things that the second Destiny improved upon from the first game was the writing. You can definitely see this as the dialogue is a lot better than what we had in the first one. The quotes selected for this article highlight this improvement and are also only a few among many words spoken in Destiny 2.

8 “If They Want War, Give Them War.” – Lord Shaxx

Lord Shaxx is the charismatic and intense overseer of the Crucible, who is an accomplished warrior in his own right. He also announces the matches within Destiny 2’s pvp mode, to which he says the selected quote to hype you up for battle.

It’s a simple line, but it’s one that radiates with Destiny lore and story in general. There are a lot of bad guys that want to give the guardians war. So why not do the same to them and help defend your home in the process? Be sure to have your guns and powers ready for what’s to come.

7 "Life Is Pain. Pain Is Power. And Power Is Life." – Toland The Shattered

Toland the Shattered was a warlock who ended up becoming exiled from the Last City due to his research into the Hive being considered mad. He was also one of the guardians in Eris Morn's fireteam who went into the Hellmouth on the Moon and was thought to have died. However, he lived on in the Ascendant Realm, no longer in his physical form.

Toland's logs can still be found, one of which contains this quote in his journals. It is definitely a relatable quote as though there is a lot of pain in life, that pain can make you stronger and more powerful. You just have to use that power to keep pushing on and not just in Destiny 2, but in reality as well.

6 “I Don’t Have Time To Explain What I Don’t Have Time To Understand.” – Cayde-6

Cayde may no longer be with us, but he has given us some of the best moments in Destiny 2. This includes the hilarious first mission on Nessus, where this quote is said. It highlights both Cayde’s personality and serves as a great nod to the first game.

The line specifically references a similar line spoken by the mysterious Exo that has gone down in infamy. It also became a bit of a meme within the Destiny community. Leave it to Cayde to let fans know that Bungie hasn’t forgotten the past.

5 “… And Now The Traveler Has Left Me With Just One Life, And I Am Afraid To Lose It.” – Ikora Rey

The Traveler and the light are what give the guardians of the Last City their powers. In Destiny 2’s main campaign, that power is taken away by Dominus Ghaul in an intense opening sequence. Among these powers is a guardian’s ability to be resurrected by their ghost. The lack of said abilities hits each of the Vanguard differently.

In the case of Ikora, the Vanguard of the mystical warlocks, she’s afraid as this quote indicates. There is a lot at stake and Ikora has so much left to accomplish yet. With things the way they are, she can’t do any good if she’s dead. The line reiterates the risks the characters face and ups the ante even more.

4 “The Light Lives In All Places… In All Things… You Can Block It… Even Try To Trap It… But The Light Always Finds Its Way." – The Speaker

The Speaker has a minor role within Destiny 2’s campaign. For pretty much all of it, he is Ghaul’s prisoner as the cabal tries to find out how to harness the Traveler’s light for his own uses. During one of their conversations, the Speaker will say this to Ghaul.

True enough his words speak true. In the beginning of the game, your character manages to reclaim their lost light after losing it. Just when all seemed to be lost and hopeless, the light found a way. It provides a good lesson to hear that is a bit cliché, but it still rings true even today.

3 “There Are Things Out In The Dark That Only The Dark Can Overcome. Trust Me.” – The Drifter

The Drifter runs the gambit game mode and has seen his fair share of stuff over the years. It’s clear he’s not a bad guy, but he doesn’t exactly bask in the light. If his mannerisms and outlook don’t give it away, this quote says everything you need to know about him.

In a way, this foreshadows the Beyond Light expansion where you actually have to use the darkness, something you’re told constantly is evil, to save the day. As a result, this quote from the enigmatic Drifter rings especially true when you hear it.

2 "You're Not Brave. You've Merely Forgotten The Fear Of Death. Allow Me To Reacquaint You." – Dominus Ghaul

Before Destiny 2, the series wasn’t really known for having any real memorable villains. That changed when Dominus Ghaul introduces himself in the sequel and makes a huge impact from the get-go. He sacks the Last City and pushes the guardian’s to a breaking point, feeling he deserves the Traveler’s light more than them.

When you face him for the first time, he taunts you by saying this quote, which will give any Destiny fan goosebumps. Ghaul nearly succeeds in his plan but as previously stated, the light always finds a way. The cabal is ultimately defeated and everyone emerges from the experience stronger for it.

1 “The Line Between Light And Dark Is So Very Thin. Do You Know Which Side You’re On?” – Uldren Sov

One of the major storylines throughout the series is trying to figure out just who exactly is considered morally right. You would think this applies to Earth and the Guardians, but things aren’t so simple. As Uldren Sov reiterates with the selected quote, which we thought would be his last words.

After being confronted at the end of the Forsaken expansion, Uldren Sov is ultimately stopped, having believed all the bad things he was doing throughout it was for the good of his sister. Plus, it's hinted that the Taken were manipulating him into doing those things. Does that truly make him the villain? Can anyone truly discern what exactly is morally right?
