Guardians don’t have long to wait before they will be playing through a new wave of content, with the start date for Destiny 2 Season 14 set for the coming hours.

Season of the Splicer will see Guardians head back into the Vault of Glass to take down a new Vex, with new weapons and returning favourites also being released.

According to Bungie, the Vault of Glass will feel familiar, but there will be some notable differences but will still retain its core competitive value.

A message from Bungie explains: “Our goal is to not fundamentally evolve this raid into something completely new. So, this will be the first race (outside of previous hard modes) where players have a broad understanding of what to expect while still encountering changes they’ll have to adapt to.

“Vault of Glass will launch with Contest Mode enabled for 24 hours. You will need to be at 1300 Power to be at the cap for all of the encounters.

Vault of Glass will not be returning this week as part of the new Destiny 2 Weekly Reset, but we do know when Season of the Splicer and its other content will be going live.

WHEN DOES DESTINY 2 SEASON OF THE SPLICER START?

Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer has a start date set for Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

Destiny 2 Season 14 will begin after the usual weekly reset but there will also be added maintenance and server downtime.

This will mean gamers waiting around a little longer than usual until all maintenance has been completed.

The good news is that servers should only be down for a few hours, after which time everything should be available to download.

Guardians will be required to update their version of Destiny 2 across PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms to have access.

The Destiny 2 Season 14 release time has been set for 6pm BST, however, some Guardians might be placed in queues and have to wait until closer to 7pm BST on May 11.

This also means that any outstanding rewards or loot from Season of the Chosen should be claimed as soon as possible, with Bungie telling fans:

“Season of the Chosen ends on May 11. Before the Season ends, players who earned the Chosen, Conqueror, and Flawless titles should claim and equip them to ensure that they don’t get removed.

“Multiple Bungie Rewards should also be earned in-game before May 11 at 10 AM PDT, and claimed on the Bungie Rewards site by May 14, 2021, at 9:59 AM PDT:

  • Europa Penguin Figurine
  • Chosen Seal Pin (players should equip the title to ensure that it’s earned)
  • Hawkmoon Long-Sleeve Shirt
  • Guardian Games Gold Medal Pin
  • Guardian Games 2021 Jacket

“As we announced earlier, when Season of the Chosen ends and Season of the Splicer begins, Seasonal Challenges from Season of the Chosen will be retired. Any Seasonal Challenges that are required to upgrade the War Table in the H.E.L.M. will still be available to complete.”
