Bungie has announced its plans to launch Destiny 2 Season of the Splicer on Tuesday, May 11.
This will be a unified release, meaning Guardians on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and next-gen consoles will start playing simultaneously.
Destiny 2 Season 14 will include a brand new story where Guardians will be tasked with stopping the Vex, which will mean dipping back into the Vault of Glass Raid.
The Vault will feel very familiar to fans, but there will be some notable differences, with Bungie telling fans:
“Our goal is to not fundamentally evolve this raid into something completely new. So, this will be the first race (outside of previous hard modes) where players have a broad understanding of what to expect while still encountering changes they’ll have to adapt to.
“Vault of Glass will launch with Contest Mode enabled for 24 hours. You will need to be at 1300 Power to be at the cap for all of the encounters.
“Clearing Vault of Glass with Contest Mode active is the first step to access the new Challenge Mode in the Director and the Tempo’s Edge Triumph.
“Completing Tempo’s Edge, a curated list of Triumphs, in this newly unlocked Challenge Mode, will be how a fireteam crosses the World First finish line and claims their prize.
“To enforce the Triumph requirements in the Challenge Mode, your team will wipe if you fail the success conditions during each encounter.”
Guardians will also need to hack the Vex Network from the inside as part of the new six-player seasonal Override activity, earn new gear, and more.
“The Vex threaten the safety of all who inhabit the Last City, plunging humanity’s sanctuary into an endless night.
Destiny 2: Bungie release trailer for 'Beyond Light' expansion
“Guardians must team up Mithrax, Kell of of the House of Light, who will teach them the ways of a Sacred Splicer. It’s up to the Vanguard to harness new Splicer tech to take down the simulation and restore sunlight.”
Bungie has scheduled the Destiny 2 Season 14 release date for Tuesday, May 11, 2021.
And as this will be happening during the weekly reset, we can expect the Season of the Splicer to start at around 6pm BST.
This will be followed by the return of the Vault of Glass on May 22, complete with new content.
Season 14 will also see the launch of Armor Synthesis, Destiny’s transmog system, which allow Guardians to create a Universal Ornament from any piece of armour in a Guardian’s possession.
Season Pass owners will also get immediate access to the Exotic Stasis Sidearm Cryosthesia 77K, Season-specific Universal Ornaments, XP boosts that will speed up Seasonal rank gains and unlocks along their reward track.
