Elden Ring Will Run On Steam Deck

Valve’s new handheld PC, the Steam Deck, launches on February 25. Coincidentally, that’s the same day that much of the world will be able to play Elden Ring, the new open-world FromSoftware title that’s getting some glowing reviews, to say the least. And now we’re finding out that Elden Ring will place nice on the Steam Deck.

SteamDB first reported that Elden Ring has been verified for the Deck, but if an unofficial source wasn’t good enough for you, you can also see the green checkmark on the Deck version of Steam’s storefront. This means that Elden Ring will play using decent graphics with legible text and show all Steam Deck’s control icons. This brings the total number of Steam Deck verified games to 401.

Although Elden Ring will play on the Deck, it might not play great. Digital Foundry is reporting some performance issues in PC, including frame drops, stuttering, and the complete inability to get Elden Ring's framerate above 60. It also doesn't have any widescreen support. That last bit won't be a problem for the Deck, but poor performance on PC means poor performance on the Deck since it's still a PC at heart.

Digital Foundry recommends folks play on a current-gen console for the best possible day one Elden Ring experience.
