Both Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments and Close to the Sun are free for all users from now until April 16. Whereas Epic usually offers an assortment of games that tend to be for all ages, both titles are more inclined towards a mature audience.
This is especially true for Close to the Sun, which is a first-person horror adventure title where players guide a journalist named Rose Archer in an alternative reality set in 1897. Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison are bitter rivals for technological supremacy, and the atmosphere has often been compared to the dystopian world of Bioshock.
Meanwhile, Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments is not based in horror, but still has the strong theme of investigation at the core of its gameplay. Players take control of both Sherlock Holmes and at times Dr. Watson to explore crime scenes. Finding clues leads to deductions, which are strung together to solve the case, but ultimately players decide how to interpret these clues, which can lead to an interesting scenario of failing to catch the culprit.
Be sure to pick up both games for free on the Epic Games store before April 16!
