Fans paid up to £40 an hour to be Animal Crossing: New Horizons interior designe

Homeware brand Olivia’s is recruiting Animal Crossing players to act as a ‘virtual consultant’ on how to decorate their in-game house.

As if real fashion labels creating clothes for Animal Crossing wasn’t enough, homeware brand Olivia’s is now looking to pay fans to advise others what colour of sofa they should have.

The idea is that ‘Virtual Interior Design Consultants’ will earn up to £40 an hour for their services, although they’re able to set their own rates and it’s implied that only professional interior designers – of which there must be many stuck at home at the moment – will be able to command that much.

That’s for the player and the consultant to work out between them though, and they can even be paid in in-game bells, or not at all.

Olivia’s is only working as a facilitator, but consultants will be expected to provide real-time feedback (presumably via something like FaceTime or Zoom) and a list of recommend products and styles.

Experience with feng shui is also helpful, as whether you believe in it or not it is the principle by which your house is judged by the Happy Home Academy.

If you think you’re up for the job then you can apply to be a consultant here at the Olivia’s website.

Alternatively, if you want to hire a consultant then you can register your interest here.

We doubt many people will really be charging as much as £40 an hour, but the implication is that if they are a professional home designer you can use the same advice on your real house.
