Brazilian football player Neymar is coming to Fortnite and you’ll need to put the work in to unlock all his related cosmetics.
He was teased way back when Fortnite Season 6 first started and, with the likes of Lara Croft and Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn out of the way, it’s finally time for Brazilian football player Neymar Jr. to enter the battle royale.
Fortnite’s no stranger to adding professional football content, but this is the first time a specific player is being immortalised in the game. His skin and related cosmetics will be added this Tuesday on April 27, but there’s quite a lot to unlock.
The skin itself can only be earned by completing five quests given to you by football players that populate the map. You’ll also get a new banner, loading screen, and football emote toy as you do this.
Once you have all those, you must then use the skin to dropkick the football toy 500 metres and score a goal with the football to unlock the Joia Trophy Back Bling and Jaguar Strike Pickaxe respectively.
And that’s not all. By completing Epic Quests, you’ll gradually acquire more themed items, like an Aerial Acrobat Glider and Exhibition Style alternatives to the glider, back bling, pickaxe, and skin.
Once you defeat three opponents as Neymar Jr., you’ll earn the Ssh Emote (obviously based on his goal celebration). When you use it as Neymar, he will awaken to his primal form, which changes depending on whether you’re wearing the regular skin or the Exhibition skin.
We’re guessing this primal form is Epic’s way of justifying adding a football player to a season themed around the wilderness, hunting animals, since it’s literally named Primal.
Epic will also be holding another of it’s in-game tournaments on April 28, simply called the Neymar Jr. Cup. It’s a solo tournament and the top player in each region will be sent a custom-made boot inspired by Neymar’s primal form. The full ruleset can be found on Epic’s website.
Lastly, from April 27 to April 30, there will be a special Go Crazy Arena playlist in Fortnite Creative, designed by community members Madmoods and Immature.
It features eight vs. eight combat with power-ups and infinite respawns enabled and the goal is to be the first team to reach 200 eliminations. Taking out your opponents will reward you with gold that can be used to unlock upgrades and other bonuses for your team.
Fortnite is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
