Diona is the feisty feline bartender of the Cat’s Tavern in Mondstadt. Although she makes some delicious drinks, she absolutely hates alcohol. This leads back to the day when she saw a personality change in her father, Draff, after he started drinking. And thus, her vendetta against alcohol began. She even hates Diluc as she blames him and the Dawn Winery for her father's drinking problem.
Genshin Impact's Diona is an excellent Bow user who wields the Cryo vision. She is an incredible Cryo character and her kit is ideal for a support role in your party. She is designed to provide excellent shields and heals for your party. When paired with the right characters, her Cryo element can help out with Elemental reactions for some extra damage.
You Can Dash And Dodge
Since many characters require Stamina to use a stronger version of their attacks, managing it can be a bit tricky. But here is where Diona’s Passive Talent, Cat's Tail Secret Menu, can come in handy.
Unlocked at Ascension 1, this Passive Talent increases the Movement Speed (+10 percent) and decreases Stamina Consumption (-10 percent) of characters shielded by Icy Paws. This means you will get some additional stamina to dash and evade various attacks. This can be especially useful in some sticky situations.
Diona Is Ideal For Cleansing
Some Genshin Impact Domains and Spiral Abyss floors have the annoying effect of debuffing your characters. It means that all characters in your party will be hit by a wave that will have some negative effect on their stats. This was first introduced in the game during the 1.2 Spiral Abyss. Some debuffs that we have seen so far are Engulfing Storm, Slowing Water, Smoldering Flames, Corrosion, and Condensed Ice.
In this scenario, using Diona’s Elemental Skill, Icy Paws, can remove this debuff and all its effects. But you should note that for a few seconds after this, Diona will have the Cryo effect on her. So she might be hit with some Elemental Reactions. This can be easy to avoid, but you just have to time it right.
Prioritize Hold Mode For Diona's Elemental Skill
Diona’s Elemental Skill launches projectiles that deal Cryo damage and create a shield to protect her. Similar to many Genshin Impact characters, her Elemental Skill has two modes with different effects. The Press Mode launches two projectiles while the Hold Mode will launch five projectiles while dashing backward.
Since the strength of the shield generated depends on the number of projectiles that actually hit the enemy, using the Hold Mode is ideal in most situations. The only exception is when you are using her for cleansing a debuff. So when debating which talent to upgrade first, go for her Elemental Skill as you get 75 percent damage absorption using the Hold Mode.
Get Constellation Two For The Best Shields
Since Diona is a four-star character, obtaining her constellations will not be that difficult. But if you want to save your Primos for a future character, Constellation 2 can be considered a great stopping point. Further Constellations are just a bonus!
Diona’s Constellation 2, ‘Shaken, Not Purred’ (hard to miss that James Bond Reference), will increase her Elemental Skill Damage and Shield Damage Absorption by 15 percent. Along with that, when her projectiles hit the enemies, it will generate a shield for all nearby allies with 50 percent strength for five seconds. This is especially useful in Co-op mode!
Take Advantage Of Cryo Resonance
When building your Genshin Impact party, one important thing to remember is Elemental Resonance. When you have two characters of the same element, it will trigger Elemental Resonance and offer a significant buff to your party. Every element has a different Elemental Resonance buff.
If you have a Cryo DPS like Ayaka, Eula, or Ganyu, using Diona in that party will give your characters an additional 15 percent Crit Rate. This can be a significant boost to your party to increase the overall damage potential. Apart from that, Diona can also act as a battery, generating Energy Particles for Cryo DPS characters to increase their Elemental Burst uptime.
Take Advantage Of Elemental Reactions
Diona’s support capabilities go far beyond providing shields and healing your party. If you prefer a Pyro or Electro DPS character, Diona can help out in dealing additional damage to enemies using Melt and Superconduct reactions.
This works amazingly with a Hydro support character like Xingqiu, who can help in freezing the enemies with his Hydro application. The combination of these reactions will deal additional damage making your fights a lot easier.
Focus On HP
If you have just pulled Diona and are unsure as to which artifacts will work for her, the only stat to consider is her HP. The amount of damage absorbed by her shield depends on her Max HP. She is solely dependent on the artifacts as even at max level, her base HP is quite low.
So if you have artifacts with HP% as their main stat, use them on Diona. You can grind for the perfect artifacts with the appropriate set bonus when you get a chance.
Diona's Best Artifacts
Selecting the best artifacts for Diona will depend on your particular team build. But the ideal combo is of two-piece Noblesse Oblige and two-piece Maiden Beloved. You will get an Elemental Burst Damage Boost of 20 percent and a Character Healing Effectiveness boost of 15 percent.
You can also go for the four-piece set of the above artifacts if you need an Attack Buff or Healing Buff depending on your party. Your priority for the main stat should be HP% but Healing Bonus and Energy Recharge artifacts can be utilized as well. Similarly, the sub-stats you should be hoping for are HP%, flat HP, and Energy Recharge.
The Sacrificial Bow Is The Way to Go
Since Diona is a support character, her weapon doesn’t need to have a high Attack stat. She will be relying on her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst, rather than doing any actual damage. So any five-Star Bow will not be especially useful for her.
Keeping this in mind, Sacrificial Bow is the ideal weapon for her. It is a four-Star Bow that has Energy Recharge as the Bonus Stat. Along with that, the Passive Skill has a 40 percent chance of ending the Elemental Skill cooldown if an opponent is hit with it. This means she will provide more shields for the party!
Diona's Elemental Burst Combo
Diona’s Elemental Burst, Signature Mix, tosses a special mixture that deals AoE Cryo damage and creates Drunken Mist. The Drunken Mist deals continuous AoE Cryo damage and regenerates the HP of the characters inside its radius.
This powerful Elemental Burst is perfect for setting up Elemental Reactions and healing your main DPS if they are running low on health. The area covered by the Drunken Mist is quite huge and can be incredibly useful in dealing with hordes of enemies. If you have a C6 Diona, the Healing Bonus will be increased by 30 percent when characters are below 50 percent HP. And if the characters are above 50 percent HP, their Elemental Mastery will be buffed by 200.
