Halo Infinite Season 1 started last November and has been going on ever since. This has given players plenty of time to finish off their battle passes, leaving them with little else to do. Player counts have plummeted for the live-service Halo game, with 343 Industries community director Brian Jarrard admitting that Infinite fans are "simply out of patience" waiting for a new season.
It seems that Halo Infinite players won't have to be patient for too much longer. Halo Infinite Season 2 was just announced with "new maps, modes, themed limited-time events, and an all-new battle pass that never expires."
The released trailer was short but sweet, showing what appears to be two new maps (one where a Warthog leaps over a lava-filled crevice and another where a Spartan swings a Gravity Hammer over moss-covered ruins), several new Spartan armors, and what is almost certainly a new battle royale game mode.
Just a few days ago, Halo Infinite dataminers found descriptions in the game's code for something called "Last Spartan Standing." This game mode will pit "every Spartan for themselves" to earn a "personal score" and "be the last Spartan standing." The trailer shows a red ring very reminiscent of Apex Legends while several Spartans fight inside it.
The trailer ends revealing a May 3 release date. That gives 343 Industries a little over a month to lay out everything coming in Season 2 – Love Wolves.
It seems 343 Industries is still learning best practices for its live-service game, with a post on Halo Waypoint detailing what worked and what didn't with Season 1. In Season 2, the battle pass will have more free skins and cosmetic options, while Ultimate Rewards will generally be higher-value items such as visors, coatings, and stances.
There's a lot more to discuss over the six-month season, and you can read all about it over on Halo Waypoint. You can also expect more cosmetics to come from the new Paramount show, which means we might even get to see Master Chief’s bum in-game.
