Halo: The Master Chief Collection Just Overtook Halo Infinite’s 24 Hour Player Count

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has overtaken Halo Infinite's 24-hour player count on Steam.

Despite an incredibly strong start when the beta launched in November as part of Halo's 10th-anniversary celebration, Halo Infinite's player numbers have been dropping more and more over recent months thanks to a lack of content updates over the game's first six-month-long season.

As pointed out by ResetEra user NekoNeko, Halo players might have run out of patience, as Halo: The Master Chief Collection has taken over Halo Infinite's 24-hour player count on Steam. Halo Infinite sits at position 119 with a peak of 8,210 players while Halo: The Master Chief Collection is at position 101 with a peak of 9,212.

Although it's not too much of a difference between the two games, it's a significant drop for Infinite considering at one point in time it had broken into Steam's top-25 all-time player peak. Of course, that was when the game had just launched, so it was bound to lose some players along the way, but it's a noticeable drop for a game that is planned as a live-service hub for Halo.

It's also important to note that these statistics only tell us the number of players on Steam, which is just one of the platforms that Halo Infinite is available on. Considering Halo's status as an Xbox exclusive, it's fair to assume that a decent amount of its player base can be found on Xbox consoles. Granted, that same argument can also be used for the Master Chief Collection.

It might seem like a rough time for Halo Infinite, but 343 Industries recently confirmed the launch date and content of the game's second season, Lone Wolves, which begins on May 3, which should hopefully bring some of the players back.

343 Industries is aware of the issues it's having with the community, with community manager Brian Jarrard recently saying, "We understand the community is simply out of patience and frankly, I think understandably tired of words."
