Jamie Lee Curtis Is Reportedly Joining The Cast Of The Borderlands Movie

Another big-name actor has been added to the star-studded line-up of the upcoming Borderlands movie, as Jamie Lee Curtis is reportedly going to be taking the role of Patricia Tannis.

First reported by Borys Kit, a journalist for the Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Lee Curtis will be playing Patricia Tannis alongside other well-known stars such as Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart. This seems to be just a rumor at the moment, but it certainly isn’t out of the realm of possibility. The cast of the Borderlands movie is getting more and more prestigious, possibly highlighting Lionsgate’s confidence in the title being a Hollywood blockbuster.

Jamie Lee Curtis playing Tannis does make a little bit more sense than other castings for the film. The actor has appeared in several well-known films across a number of different genres including films such as Knives Out, A Fish Called Wanda, and Halloween. Patricia Tannis will likely be more of a comedy role, and Jamie Lee Curtis playing an eccentric archaeologist fits quite well.

Kevin Hart was also recently confirmed to be playing the gruff and grizzled ex-soldier Roland, and Cate Blanchett was confirmed to be taking on the role of the Siren Lilith. There was initial surprise amongst Borderlands fans about Kevin Hart’s casting, seeing as the actor is more notable for his comedy roles in films like Jumanji and Ride Along. However, that hasn’t stopped the film’s director, Eli Roth, from putting his full confidence in Hart, claiming, “He’s going to be an amazing Roland.”

There’s currently still no news regarding who will play other big characters like Claptrap, Mordecai, or Brick. With the combination of Kevin Hart’s involvement in the film and the massive amount of money Lionsgate seems to be throwing at casting, it would be a surprise if we didn’t get Dwayne Johnson as Brick, even if Gearbox wants him as Claptrap.

The Borderlands film still has no release date, but filming has just started over in Hungary. The country’s rural landscapes and stricter attitude to coronavirus testing has made Hungary an ideal place for filming. With work on the film underway, we will likely see more news come out any more potential castings sooner rather than later.
