Leak Suggests Danny Trejo, Taraji P. Henson Have Joined Cast Of Super Mario Bros Movie

We have two more stars to add to The Super Mario Bros. Movie cast, according to a new leak on social media. We're not sure who they'll play, but they both have a history of enhancing every film they've ever joined.

This all comes from a resume at Illumination for Colte Toto (spotted by King of Mario Cramalot on Twitter). Having joined Illumination three months ago, Toto has apparently taken over Minions social media duties but also pitched a bunch of ads for the upcoming film. Toto also lists several stars that they've "scripted social media content for," including Jack Black (Bowser), Chris Pratt (Mario,) Anya Taylor-Joy (Peach), and Charlie Day (Luigi).

And then near the end of the list, we see two names that have yet to appear on the Mario Bros. Movie IMDB page: Danny Trejo and Taraji. P Henson. Trejo is perhaps best known for playing a bunch of Animal Crossing during the height of the pandemic, appearing in Far Cry 6 as himself, and also doing a bunch of movies like Machete and Spy Kids. Henson has done a bunch of television, appeared in films like Minions: The Rise of Gru and Hidden Figures, and won a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance.

Like I said, we don't know who they'll play, but we're still missing the Hammer Bros., a bunch of Koopa kids, and Kirby. Mario is sort of a male-dominated universe, but we still haven’t seen Rosalina, Princess Daisy, Birdo, or Toadette cast. Henson could be any of them.

We're still waiting on the movie's second trailer, but in the meantime, fans have redubbed the first trailer with original Mario voice actor Charles Martinet instead of Chris Pratt. Even without recorded lines, fans seemed to like the dub more than Pratt's version of Mario, which led Martinet to thank fans for their "love and kindness." Martinet will have a cameo in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, but we're still not sure where or how.
