Update:

2K has decided to release the trailer officially, given the leak was obviously real (and their fault).

As you see, there wasn’t expected to be any new information on the game until January but despite the trailer arriving earlier than expected (regardless of the leak) there’ll still be another new blowout then.

The trailer highlights the 10 most important changes and improvements in the new game and so far the fan response seems very positive.

Original story:

2K has spoiled its own surprise by accidentally putting the reveal trailer for WWE 2K22 live early, but at least it looks decent.

There’s no doubting the authenticity of this leak, given it happened on the official WWE 2K YouTube channel, before being suddenly deleted when those responsible realised it wasn’t supposed to go live yet.

It’s an important reveal though as there hasn’t been an official WWE game since 2019’s appalling WWE 2K20, which caused a complete rethink of the series and a two year delay for the next title.

WWE 2K22 is still being made by 2K20 developer Visual Concepts but it won’t be out until March 2022, which is a surprising launch spot for what is usually a pre-Christmas release.

Although the trailer was quickly taken down that didn’t stop the internet from saving a copy and if the Twitter link you see here is down it still shouldn’t be too hard to find another one.

The trailer features brief looks at various modes, including MyGM, My Faction, and MyRise; as well as Universe mode, where you get to play through a whole calendar of events, and a Creation Suite where you can customise your own wrestler.

The footage also shows the use of a new dodge button and a 2K Showcase based around Rey Mysterio.

2K has done the sensible thing by delaying the game and at first glance the trailer seems to show that their patience has paid off, although we’ll only know for sure in March.
