London Tube signs have been turned into PS5 symbols for launch

Sony has rebranded a number of London Underground stops to the likes of Ratchet & Clankaster Gate and Gran Turismo 7 Sisters.

Usually the marketing stunts companies try and pull off for big launches are pretty lame but we have to admit, this one for the release of the PlayStation 5 in the UK is pretty fun.

Although it came out in the rest of the world last week, the PlayStation 5 won’t release in Europe until Thursday, November 19. To celebrate that fact Sony has put up some extra signs around the Oxford Circus stop of the London Underground, adding triangle, square, and cross symbols to the usual circular one.

Not only that, but they’ve also changed the names (for just the next couple of days) of a number of famous tube stops.

Lancaster Gate is now called Ratchet & Clankaster Gate (after launch window game Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart), West Ham is now Horizon Forbidden West Ham, Mile End has been changed to Miles End (after Spider-Man: Miles Morales), and Seven Sisters is now Gran Turismo 7 Sisters.

Apart from the Miles one those are pretty good, and it’s interesting that most of them are for games that aren’t due out until next year.

We would worry about how this is going to confuse the hell out of tourists trying to do their Christmas shopping, but the coronavirus has already ensured that won’t be an issue.

The funniest thing about all this is that one of the Oxford Circus signs is right outside a Microsoft Store, which we’re sure is a completely unintended accident.

The least funny thing is that Sony are referring to this as the London Punderground, but then they can’t all be winners…
