Marvel Fans Are Highlighting How Much Ant-Man 3 Looks Like Spy Kids 3D

As Marvel fans prepare for Wakanda Forever's arrival next month, the next chapter in the MCU has been shown off. The first trailer for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania debuted this week, revealing the tiny hero will return to the quantum realm to clash with Kang. However, many of those who have seen the trailer have been pointing out just how much it looks like Spy Kids 3D.

The most striking similarity, and probably the one that triggered Spy Kids memories for so many people watching the Ant-Man trailer this week, is the outfits. Scott and Hope are shown in their red and yellow superhero outfits various times throughout. Outfits that make them look a lot like grown-up versions of Juni and Carmen from the Spy Kids movies.

An amusing similarity for those familiar with the series, but it doesn't stop there. Scott's daughter Cassie, who is inadvertently at fault for her entire family being sucked into the quantum realm, eventually rocks up in a similar suit. A purple one. Switching back to Spy Kids, and there's a character in the third movie, Demetra, who is also younger than the other two main characters, and yes, of course, she rocks purple.

Aside from the comparable looks and roles played by various characters across both movies, the very premise of the two movies is also pretty similar. While Ant-Man and the gang are looking for a way out of the quantum realm, in Spy Kids 3D, the heroes are tasked with fighting their way out of a video game. Plus, on top of everything else, there was clearly a lot of green screen involved in the creation of both movies. Understandable as there's not exactly somewhere on Earth you can dress up to look like the quantum realm.

The third Ant-Man movie will hit cinemas in February 2023 as the MCU marches on and feels like it is about to ramp back up. It has arguably been treading water since the blockbuster that was Spider-Man: No Way Home, putting the pieces in place for the next few years via Disney Plus shows and a couple of other films in 2022.
