Marvel’s Avengers Introduces The Most Adorable M.O.D.O.K. Ever

With less than two weeks to go before the release of Marvel’s Avengers, fans are excited to dive into this loot-based action game beyond the recent betas that were offered. To build on this hype, the team behind the game has been offering glimpses into the characters,  levels, and story that you will get to interact with and play-through as your favorite Avenger. A recent reveal concerns one of the main antagonists of the game, the ego-centric scientist known as M.O.D.O.K.

While it is not surprising to see this villain pop-up, especially as it seems the game will tackle the evil corporation known as A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics), what is surprising is how adorable he looks in the game. He may well give Baby Yoda a run for his money!

For those unfamiliar with the supervillain M.O.D.O.K., he was once known as A.I.M scientist George Tarleton. His ambition and ego allowed him to be experimented on and altered to become the super-intelligent M.O.D.O.K., which is essentially a giant floating head in a hover chair.

In most media, M.O.D.O.K. is as ugly as you would imagine a mutated head to be. He is often depicted as a wrinkly, potato-like head with an awful bowl cut hairdo (think Mr. Potato Head meets Ringo Starr). Sometimes, he is given limbs that stem, not from a human torso, but from his actual head. However, the fine folk over at Marvel’s Avengers have given M.O.D.O.K. an extreme makeover.

This new M.O.D.O.K. has a certain baby-like quality to him that makes him seem more like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum than a world-dominating super-brain. While he is usually shown as extremely wrinkly, the game has botox-ed his wrinkles to leave M.O.D.O.K. with a smoother complexion. Plus, the developers have opted to give Mr. floating head a larger and more developed torso than he is usually given. While often drawn or animated as just an enormous head, this body furthers the “toddler” look that he is putting off. Now, his tiny legs and arms are less creepy and more cute, as you want to count those fingers and toes and not run in fear.

Perhaps the developers were so enamored with Baby Yoda that they decided to offer up M.O.D.O.K. as their own adorable mascot. Or maybe someone on the animation and character design team is a huge fan of the supervillain and wanted to update his wrinkly-walnut look. Or maybe M.O.D.O.K. was always adorable and we were all too blind to realize it. Whatever the case, it is clear that M.O.D.O.K. is going to be a large part of Marvel’s Avengers and we will all debate whether to send him to prison or simply to his room!
