A reader lists the three Capcom games he’d most like to see get a reboot, including Final Fight and Dino Crisis.
Capcom has produced many great classic games and franchises, such as Street Fighter, Dead Rising, Final Fight, Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Devil May Cry, and Mega Man. Capcom has a long and rich history of releasing great games and there are a few that they have yet to do reboots for. Below are the games that I feel they should reboot, especially with PlayStation 5 and next gen Xbox drawing closer to being released.
Final Fight
A fighting game that when released showed how combining Streets Of Rage, Fighting Force, and Double Dragon [Final Fight came out years before Streets Of Rage and Fighting Force – GC] would result in a great game that would ensure great replayability, as well as provide hours of entertainment. A Final Fight reboot could have an online co-op mode added, something new for the reboot not available in the original. Final Fight did manage to produce many more games and all of its main characters made it into other games like Street Fighter. This is one fighting game Capcom should certainly consider rebooting.
Dino Crisis
Whether you’re a dinosaur fan or a Resident Evil fan this is one game that is well worh a reboot. Dino Crisis is an excellent example of combining a Resident Evil type game with dinosaurs. The original could be expanded further with the addition of multiplayer, along with other cool features that were not possible on the PlayStation at the time. Multiplayer co-op could be added, as well as various online modes to provide a great perk. Today it is still enjoyed as a classic and a reboot is long overdue for fans who deserve to have a Dino Crisis reboot after waiting patiently for so long.
Dead Rising
What I’d love to see Capcom do is not only reboot this game but also really expand from the original and add more functionality to Frank’s camera. The ability to take in-game photos and upload these to share with fans online would be one fun feature that people would enjoy; adding to this additional survivors, psychopaths, areas, books, food types, and an expanded storyline – for example, showing how Frank left Willamette and how Isabella ended up working for Phenotrans would be a great way to expand the story. Also, adding newer mall music as well as co-op fun with players would make the reboot highly enjoyable for fans of the original.
There are also other Capcom games that I am hoping will get a reboot in the future, but for me the three above make my top list and I’m sure there are games that others would love to see be rebooted in the near future. As time progresses, I’m sure we will see a ton more classics from Capcom that will be rebooted many generations in the future.
