Konami might be teasing a Silent Hill announcement, with a new Twitter account already set up, but some fans aren’t getting their hopes up.
Despite Konami’s previous insistence that it isn’t happening, there are still pretty strong rumours that a new Silent Hill game is in development, possibly as a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
Fans have been desperate for another entry in the horror series for years now. The last game came out in 2012 and, at the moment, fans have had to make do with Silent Hill DLC content in Dead By Daylight.
However, it appears that Konami may have other plans for the series, if this newly established Twitter account is anything to go by.
On Friday, 31 July, the Konami account shared a short clip of the iconic Silent Hill 2 siren, shortly followed with an explanation that it wasn’t teasing a new game or anything but wanted to ‘share the noise and feel of being hunted’ in Dead By Daylight.
But this was then followed with ‘Anything official would come from first from @SilentHill or an event or something, not from us,’ linking people to the aforementioned new account.
So, is Konami subtly trying to tell us to keep an eye out for an upcoming event where a new game will be announced? There is a PlayStation event rumoured to be taking place this month and, if the new game is PlayStation 5 exclusive, that could be a good place to announce it.
But, judging by some of the responses on Twitter, a lot of people aren’t convinced and think Konami’s comment isn’t hinting at anything. Some even admit that while they’d like to see a new game, they wouldn’t want Konami to be the one making it.
Earlier in the year, Konami did state that it was ‘considering ways to provide the next title,’ but clearly that could mean anything and doesn’t necessarily confirm that a new game will happen.
