Next PS5 State of Play this Thursday with Deathloop and third party games

Sony has announced a new State of Play for this week, but it’s only going to talk about third party games such as Bethesda’s Deathloop.

Ever since Sony announced they weren’t going to be part of E3 2021, fans have wondered what they’d do instead, to show off their new games for this year and beyond.

As time has gone on the chances of them having any kind of single event of their own has dwindled, with the plan apparently being to have a series of ordinary State of Play livestreams – Sony’s equivalent of a Nintendo Direct.

There’s a new one on Thursday, July 8 but its primary focus will be Bethesda’s Deathloop, with the debut of a nine-minute gameplay demo – possibly the same one we saw back in May.

The State Of Play will be 30 minutes in total, so there will be time for plenty of other third party and indie titles. No others have been named yet though and its unclear if any of them will be PlayStation exclusives like Deathloop (Kena: Bridge Of Spirits seems a shoe-in though).

The PlayStation Blog has specifically said that there will be no updates on the next God Of War (which they seem to have stopped referring to as Ragnarök), Horizon Forbidden West or the next generation PlayStation VR.

Instead, they’ve promised more updates ‘throughout the summer’, implying that those first party titles may be featured then.

The livestream will start at 10pm BST and you watch it on the official PlayStation channels of either YouTube or Twitch.
