There’s a lot of old games making their way to the Switch, so it perhaps comes as little surprise that 2001’s Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee is coming out this month.
According to an announcement trailer released this week, the game is coming out on Thursday, May 14.
The game, which was originally released for the first Xbox, takes place after the events of Abe’s Oddysee. In it, Abe, the previous game’s protagonist, is tasked with helping save the titular Munch from captivity. The two then must team up to save Munch’s species, the Gabbits, from extinction at the hands of the Glukkons’ less-than-environmentally-friendly egg harvesting practices.
Munch’s Oddysee is the first 3D game in the Oddworld series. As an Xbox exclusive, it was well-received for its time, though it certainly shows its age now. The game is full of platforming and puzzle-solving, with players having to control both characters and using their unique abilities to make their way through an animal research lab and recover the last Gabbit eggs in existence.
Oddworld: Soulstorm set to release this year, it’s perhaps not surprising that developer Oddworld Inhabitants would want to release more of its classic games to modern platforms.
