The next big event coming to Pokemon Go will involve celebrating the New Year with your Pocket Monsters.

Niantic has confirmed that it will be hosting the seasonal event to ring the New Year but haven’t provided much in the way of details yet.

What we do know is that things will kick off before the end of December, with new costumes and snazzy new avatar items planned.

The New Year’s event will begin on December 31 and will run until January 4, with plenty of other smaller updates planned.

This includes next month’s Community Day being held on Sunday, January 16, featuring Spheal, the Clap Pokémon.

As usual, Spheal will be appearing more frequently in the wild. Trainers that evolve Sealeo (Spheal’s Evolution) during the event or up to two hours afterwards to get a Walrein that knows the Charged Attack Icicle Spear and Fast Attack Powder Snow.

And here is the Pokemon Go Community Day details as shared by Niantic for January 2022:

Exclusive Attack: Evolve Sealeo (Spheal’s Evolution) during the event or up to two hours afterwards to get a Walrein that knows the Charged Attack Icicle Spear and Fast Attack Powder Snow.

Icicle Spear: Making its Pokémon GO debut, this low-energy Charged Attack will be sure to make Walrein shine – Trainer Battles: 60 damage and Gyms and raids: 60 damage.

Community Day Special Research Story: The Spheal Deal:  For US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency), you’ll be able to access the Spheal Community Day–exclusive Special Research story, The Spheal Deal!
