The latest Pokemon Go event went live earlier today around the world although it's only just going live this morning for players in the UK.
Today marks the introduction of the games Spring themed event. By the time you read this, chances are, the event will be live, but for the sake of any early risers, the Spring event officially starts from Thursday, April 9, 2020, at 8:00 am local time.
It ends in one weeks time, on Thursday April 16, 2020, at 10:00 pm local time.
Despite being locked indoors due to the ongoing worldwide Coronavirus outbreak, at least we can all still enjoy a merry Easter playing Pokemon.
To know everything Niantic are doing for this event, keep reading for full details further down the page.
For now though, we're focusing on one of the games more secret new additions, noticed by players overnight in other parts of the world who are already enjoying the event.
Reports suggest that there's another addition to the Pokemon Go shiny list.
Whilst the event had hinted at the inclusion of Shiny Exeggcute, and new shiny variations for flower crown-wearing pokemon (such as Pikachu, Buneary and Togepi), Niantic said nothing about shiny Marill; who is now available it would seem.
If you're wondering how to go about catching yourself a shiny Marill, then fear not and keep reading!
How to catch shiny Marill in Pokemon GO?
As stated, the Pokemon Go 'Spring event' is now live and will take place for one week.
Which means you have seven days to grab yourself this new shiny Pokemon.
We say 'new', Marill's baby form, Azurill, has been available as a shiny in the game for some time and could be evolved into a shiny Marill or Azumarill if you so desired.
But given you can only catch Azurill from hatching eggs, the chances of a shiny Azurill are slim, to say the least.
However, since the start of the spring event players are reporting that Shiny Marill is now available in the wild.
This is surely good news and should greatly increase players chances of catching a Shiny Marill without the need to earn a Shiny Azurill first.
Equally, given that Marill is appearing more frequently in the wild, your chances of catching a shiny should also be boosted significantly.
At present, it's not clear if Azumarill, who is appearing as a quest reward for the spring event, is also available directly as a shiny.
Following the conclusion of the event (and hopefully, the UK wide lockdown from Coronavirus), your best bet of catching a shiny Marill will likely come from visiting locations spawning as many Marill Pokemon as possible.
We'd suggest that to increase your chances you should head over to the Silph Road Global Nest Atlas to find your nearest Marill nest.
