Want to level up your Star Rank and become a high-ranking member of the Survey Corps? Here's how you can do it. There's no doubt that Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a very different entry in the mainline of Pokemon games. It takes us back to a time in the Pokemon universe when most things about these awesome pocket monsters still remained a mystery.
At the start of the game, you'll join the Galaxy Team as a member of the Survey Corps, and you can level up as a team member by increasing your Star Rank. Reaching a higher Star Rank unlocks new crafting recipes and higher-level Pokemon will start obeying you.
There are light spoilers ahead regarding Star Rank rewards. If you prefer to find out the rewards for yourself, proceed with caution.
How Star Ranks Work
You will first start out as a No Star recruit among the Galaxy Team's Survey Corps ranks. As Cyllene will let you know as soon as you get your Survey Corps uniform, your rank will depend on how you perform as a member of the team. You can climb up the ranks and reach the maximum star rank: Star Rank Ten.
Each time you level up your rank number, you'll receive rewards for your efforts — they range anywhere from crafting recipes to accessing new areas or unlocking new requests, for example. Check down below for a complete list of the rewards if you don't mind spoilers.
How To Level Up Your Star Rank And All Rewards
The Pokedex in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a primitive version compared to the one we've come to know throughout the years. Completing the Pokedex isn't just catching Pokemon either, although, of course, that's part of it. As being a member of the Survey Corps, your job is to go on expeditions and gather information about various Pokemon to fill the Pokedex.
The way this works is by completing research tasks. Each Pokedex entry has several research tasks that require you to do thorough research on each Pokemon in the region. As you complete and report research tasks to Professor Laventon, you'll earn Pokemon Research Points that will let you level up after a certain amount of points.
Every time you go up a rank, you'll receive some rewards. So, if you're curious about what you can get, here are all the rewards for each Star Rank:

How To Check Your Progress
You can check your Star Rank progress by opening your Pokedex (press down on the D-pad). In the center of the front page of your Pokedex, you can check how many Pokemon you've seen, how many you've caught, and each region you've unlocked. In the bottom left corner of the page, you can check your Star Rank, while in the bottom right corner you can see how many research points you've earned in total, and how many points you need to be promoted to the next rank.
After you level up, the number of points needed to reach the next rank will also increase — it'll be more difficult to be promoted over time. So, be sure to always be aware of which research tasks each Pokedex entry has.
Research Tasks
Each Pokedex entry has a research level depending on how many research tasks you've completed related to a certain Pokemon. There is a wide range of tasks you can complete, but you don't have to do all of them — although doing so can increase your chances of encountering a shiny Pokemon!
