The next FMV game from director Sam Barlow finally has a title. Announced as the grand finale during Future Game Show, Immortality is scheduled to release in 2022.
Immortality, previously known as Project Ambrosio, was first announced by publisher Half Mermaid last June. The heavily redacted Steam page didn’t reveal much, but now we have a lot more information about the game and what to expect.
Like previous games Her Story and Telling Lies, Immortality will be murder mystery FMV game with live-action performances. Barlow is directing, with writing from Allan Scott (Queen’s Gambit), Amelia Gray (Mr. Robot), and Barry Gifford (Lost Highway).
The trailer and Steam page are sparse on details, but we do know that the game will tell the story of Marissa Marcel, a film star who made three movies, but none of them were ever released, and Marissa disappeared. The Steam page offers a few clues about the three film Marissa starred in. The first film, a 1968 adaptation of M.G. Lewis’s Gothic novel The Monk, is called Ambrosio, the original codename for the game. The second film, Minsky, looks to be a Hitchcockian murder mystery with the Marcel playing the supposed femme fatale. The third and final film, called Two of Everything, seems to be a psychological thriller evocative of Ingmar Bergman’s Persona.
No other details about the game are known, but there’s little doubt there is still plenty of clues to unravel before the game launches sometime in 2022.
