Registrations For Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier Are Open

Registrations for the closed beta of Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier are now live. Players can sign up for Square Enix’s battle royale anytime between now and May 27; however, it’s currently limited to 64-bit, 7.1+ Android devices.

Signing up may not guarantee you a spot, but since it’s a battle royale, we can deduce that Square Enix will want to get as many players into the beta as possible. The closed beta will run from June 1 to June 7.

Last week Square Enix gave us a look at what we’re in for in Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier. The game will be a blend of the traditional battle royale genre, with major elements of the Final Fantasy universe woven through it. For starters, AI controlled creatures like Bombs, Cutters, and the Scorpion Sentinel will be found all over the map. These will act as a way to level up your character during the early stages of the game.

The First Soldier boasts a wide variety of ranged and melee weapons. These include powerful sniper rifles and assault rifles among others. The melee weapons are especially dangerous at close range and can be used to clear out enemies in your immediate vicinity. It appears that players may also get to use an adapted Limit Break.

Combatants will be able to use Materia in a number of ways, just like in the original game. You can use it to heal or launch yourself onto a high perch to get into a sniping position. Lastly, you’ll also have access to a Summon ability which could bring Ifrit to fight by your side and act as a personal bodyguard.

As for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2, Tetsuya Nomura shared the first update on the game’s progress, hinting that it might have an open overworld and a different atmosphere. Nomura claimed that he wasn’t allowed to say much, but dropped hints like him seeing Cloud running around in a lot of nature, and that the “atmosphere will be quite different from Part 1”. He also noted that Final Fantasy Remake Part 2 will take place directly after Episode Intergrade.
