Stardew Valley’s Prescription For Sleep Album Is Out Now

Get ready to fall asleep to the relaxing music of Stardew Valley. Today, Scarlet Moon Records released the next album in the Prescription for Sleep series and it is all about the relaxing sounds of Stardew Valley. This is the 11th entry in the Prescription for Sleep jazz series that remixes popular video game soundtracks to make them more relaxing.

Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, @ConcernedApe, took to Twitter to share the news of the album’s release, which was announced earlier this year. Barone thanked Gentle Love for their performances on the album and noted that he loved the soulful renditions of the series. For the album, Barone hand-picked the 11 tracks that are covered while also writing the commentary and conducting the exclusive interview found within the album’s digital booklet, available when purchased through Bandcamp. It seemed to be a true labor of love for the Stardew Valley creator.

The album was a close collaboration between Barone and Gentle Love, a jazz group comprised of saxophonist Norihiko Hibino of Metal Gear Solid fame and Etrian Odyssey’s Ayaki on piano. While most of the tracks are covers of the music found within the game, Gentle Love did contribute an original theme. For this theme, titled “Beauty in Seasons,” every two bars of music are meant to represent a month fo the year. This is meant to show the passing of time as the year progresses from one season to the next. It is a perfect companion piece to a game that places an emphasis on the passing of time and the changing of the seasons.

The full track list for the album is below:

  1. Stardew Valley Overture
  2. Spring (The Valley Comes Alive)
  3. Summer (The Sun Can Bend An Orange Sky)
  4. Dance of the Moonlight Jellies
  5. Fall (The Smell of Mushroom)
  6. Fall (Ravens Descent)
  7. Mines (Cloth)
  8. Winter (Nocturne of Ice)
  9. Winter (The Wind Can Be Still)
  10. Night Market
  11. A Golden Star Is Born
  12. Beauty In Seasons (Original)

It almost feels like Stardew Valley was made to have such an album. The relaxing atmosphere of the game blends well with the relaxing sounds of the album that is meant to lull someone to sleep. Prior to Stardew Valley, the Prescription for Sleep series has tackled other well-known video game soundtracks including Secret of Mana, Undertale, Celeste, Shovel Knight, and more.
