Acquiring the proper gear for your build is essential if you want to be a competitive player in PVE or PVP in The Elder Scrolls Online. There are dozens of item sets you can use in this MMO video game, including many that are specifically useful for healers, tanks, magicka DPS, and stamina DPS.
In addition to these item sets, you can also get your hands on a select few one-piece item sets, known as Mythic items. The Thrassian Stranglers are one of these hard-to-get pieces of gear, but they grant quite the bonus to your combat skills if you manage to create and equip them.
What Are The Thrassian Stranglers?
The Thrassian Stranglers are a Mythic one-piece item set you can create by combining all five leads relevant to its creation. While wearing these gloves, you'll gain a unique stack for one hour whenever you defeat an enemy, up to 50 stacks at the maximum.
Each stack you acquire grants you 23 Weapon Damage and Spell Damage, which is quite a boost to your overall DPS. You can gain up to 1150 Weapon Damage and Spell Damage in total by wearing this item.
However, there are downsides to the Thrassian Stranglers. If you crouch, turn invisible or remove the item, you'll lose the bonus. Additionally, you also lose 120 health and gain a negative one percent effectiveness with damage shields whenever you gain a stack.
How To Get The Thrassian Stranglers
To create the Thrassian Stranglers, you first have to collect each of the five leads and scry for them in their specific zones. Here's how to find each of them and a short guide on how to scry and excavate each lead.
Inert Animone Inlay
The Inert Animone Inlay lead can drop from any of the World Bosses in the Auridon zone, which is an island in the southern section of Tamriel. There are various World Bosses in the zone, but the easiest to encounter is the Seaside Scarp Camp since it's nearby Vulkhel Guard, the town you can first travel to on the island.
Once at the Seaside Scarp Camp, you'll have to face off against Quenyas, a powerful Necromancer. You may need to defeat multiple World Bosses or the same World Boss multiple times for the Inert Animone Inlay lead to drop. As you can see on the map above, this World Boss is northwest of Vulkhel Guard, at the skull icon.
Bouyant Steel
The Bouyant Steel lead isn't too difficult to get, as all you need to do is fish in Saltwater Fishing Spots inside the Stros M'kai zone, an island off the coast of Glenumbra. You'll find Saltwater Fishing Spots along the coast of the island, so simply walk the coast and fish in these unique spots for a chance to acquire the lead.
Sticky Integument Leather
The Sticky Integument Leather is one of the more difficult leads to acquire in your hunt for the Thrassian Stranglers. You need to open Psijic Portals on the island of Summerset or inside Artaeum for a chance to find this lead, both of which require the Summerset DLC or an ESO Plus subscription. You can find Psijic Portals in places where crafting nodes usually appear.
Unlike the other leads relating to the Thrassian Stranglers, the Sticky Integument Leather has a strange scrying location. Before you can scry and excavate this piece, you'll need to travel to Eyevea, which you only have access to upon completing the Mages Guild questline.
Coral Plating
Like the Buoyant Steel, you can get your hands on the Coral Plating lead by fishing. This time you'll need to travel to the Artaeum zone from the Summerset DLC, which means you'll need either that DLC or ESO Plus to get it.
Once in the zone, search along the coast for Mystic Fishing Spots. Fish inside these spots for a chance to earn the Coral Plating lead. You'll have to complete "The Queen's Decree" quest in the Summerset DLC before you can travel to Artaeum. Artaeum is outside of Tamriel, so you have to zoom out until you see the location above to travel to it.
Nautilus Shell Guards
To get the Nautilus Shell Guards, you need to travel into the Karnwasten public dungeon. This dungeon is on the island of Summerset, so (once again) you'll need the Summerset DLC or ESO Plus to enter it. Once inside, you can defeat any of the dungeon's bosses for a chance to get the Nautilus Shell Guards. You may have to defeat the bosses multiple times before the lead drops.
How To Scry And Excavate Each Lead
After you have all five of the above leads in your possession, it's time to scry. You need to travel to each of the lead's respective zones and open your Journal menu to find all active leads available to scry. You'll need to reach level seven in the Scrying and Excavating skills before you can scry these leads.
After completing the scrying mini-game for each lead, you'll get a marker on your map for the excavation site, where you can then excavate the item. Upon scrying and excavating all five leads, the Thrassian Stranglers will be in your inventory, ready for you to equip.
