Tokyo Game Show 2022 is taking place this week, and if you want to tune into TGS then we’ve got details on the full schedule for the expo. Dozens of developers and publishers are heading to TGS this year including Konami, Square Enix, Capcom and Xbox. In terms of what could be announced, Hideo Kojima fans will be hoping they could get a glimpse of his upcoming Xbox exclusive – which is rumoured to be a horror game titled Overdose – at TGS, while hopes have been raised Konami could be about to make a huge announcement surrounding one of its iconic IPs.
The iconic Japanese developer and publisher said in the run-up to TGS that they would have news to share about a “world-loved series” making a comeback.
This cryptic tease has got plenty of tongues wagging, with the comments raising hopes that Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid or Castlevania could be about to make a long-awaited comeback.
For years rumours have been swirling around these three series, with recent rumours claiming multiple Silent Hill projects – including a remake of Silent Hill 2 and an entirely new mainline Silent Hill game – will be announced soon with these games exclusive to the PS5.
While it has also been claimed that remasters of Metal Gear Solid 1, 2 and 3 could also be on the horizon.
It remains to be seen whether any of these IPs are what Konami is hinting at when they talk about a “world-loved series” making a return. Konami has plenty of IPs at its disposal so the upcoming announcement could be about something else entirely, with one possibility the rumour mill is hinting at being the return of Suikoden.
If you’re wondering, here is the full schedule for TGS 2022 below. These are Japan times, with Tokyo currently eight hours ahead of the UK at the moment…
