"Incontrovertible proof." Those are the exact words Benedict uses with regard to the team's mission to prove Sorsley's guilt in this next chapter of Triangle Strategy, and he doesn't use them lightly. Rather than the search for evidence playing out narratively, an Exploration Event tasks players with searching firsthand. And while poking around Central Hyzante for leads isn't too tough, ensuring that events play out precisely as necessary to proceed to the next stage of House Wolffort's plan is tricky. Tricky enough for a guide page, to say the least.
As is customary with this game, there is another path. It's a path that most players will probably fall into whether intentionally or otherwise without consulting information like ours, but that's not to say it's any lesser for it. A different story can still be a good story. We'll arm you with everything you need to know to avoid that outcome, if only because it's the more difficult route — but if you're looking to take the other door forward, simply mess up one or more times along the way.
Exploration Event: Central Hyzante
Unlike most chapters, Chapter Ten: Part One really tosses you into the fire. A short supply of cutscenes plays out, and then it's off to the races — or the city streets, rather. This gameplay section, and a subsequent choice-driven conversation, constitutes the entirety of 'In the Shadow of Suspicion'.
The information (and note) listed below is necessary for the story route in which House Wolffort gathers enough evidence to convict Sorsley of his crimes. Following our guide to acquire each of these sets you up for the chance to progress down that particular path. If you miss any of these, you will automatically take the route in which Sorsley is not convicted via evidence.
Items, Notes, And Information
Items | |
---|---|
Paralysis Recovery Pellet | Near the city entrance. |

Fiber | Near the window in the house mentioned above. |
Quality Timber | To the east of the soldiers guarding the Source. |
Large HP Recovery Pellet | Find the itinerant merchant (who won't be open for business) and check the house behind him. |
Notes | |
Lyla's Secret Journal | Speak with Lyla, at which point the pinkish journal inside the house behind the merchant will begin to glow. Interact with it to acquire this note. |
Information | |
Sorsley's Bribery | Automatically acquired alongside Lyla's Secret Journal. |
Suspicious Merchant | Speak with one of the quartet of Hyzantian troopers guarding the Source. When a conversation choice appears, select the second choice. |
The Vanishing Vessel | Have a nice quick chat with a gossip-minded Hyzantian citizen in the house near Clarus. |
Message for Exharme | After speaking with the soldier who guards the Ministry of Medicine, go back and speak with the itinerant merchant again. |
House Ende's Encampment | Talk to the rebel at the southwest corner of town after selecting the second dialogue option with the Hyzantian trooper and acquiring Suspicious Merchant. (You're also freeing the rebel in the process, so hey, good on you.) |
The Secret Ledger | During your conversation with Clarus, select the second choice to his second question. If you aren't given access to that follow-up question of his just yet, keep searching for other information and check back with him as he requests until you can. |
Remember to swing by your encampment after you've gathered the latest batch of items. You might just have enough stuff on hand for another weapon upgrade or two. Every bit counts!
Main Story: Wolffort Encampment
One last warning: acquire all the notes and information listed above if you intend to gather enough hard evidence to convict Sorsley.
If your goal is to venture down the story path involving successfully nailing Sorsley for his deeds, you're still not out of the woods yet. Just because Serenoa has found everything he needs does not mean he'll communicate it correctly during this sequence involving the rest of House Wolffort discussing their findings. Here's how to ensure the young lord is the witty wordsmith you need him to be.
Answer each question in the following order: for the first question, choose the first answer. For the second question, choose the second. And for the third, you guessed it, choose the third. Easy enough to remember, right? But goodness, do be sure to remember it. If Serenoa mentions the vanishing vessel at the wrong time, for example, the whole discussion unravels. The same applies to the secret ledge and House Ende encampment.
You may be tempted to mention Sorsley's dealings with corrupt nobles in Glenbrook. It triggers anxiety for Roland, and certainly feels like it could be construed as a vital portion of the conversation. But doing so appears to derail matters irreparably, so stick to the 1-2-3 dialogue replies, in that order.
Do let us know if things play out any differently for you. This is an especially complex event, but as it stands, we believe we have cracked the code.
