Activision has warned gamers that this weeks Call of Duty Warzone update time is going to be a little different.

Not only will Battle Royale fans need to download and install a massive new patch, but they will also be freeing up space.

According to the patch notes supplied by Treyarch, the new Call of Warzone update will reduce the overall installation size for the game.

For many, this will prove very helpful, as the latest COD combination of games are now too big to fit on some base consoles.

A message from Activision explains the process, telling gamers this week: “Season Two Reloaded also brings great news of a lower, optimized file size across Warzone.

“Those who own the full version of Modern Warfare/Warzone, or who own the free-to-play Warzone game, will find their overall file size footprint reduced on their respective platform.

“Enhancements to the overall content management system have been made possible through data optimization and streamlining content packs needed for individual game modes.

“This will come after a larger than usual, one-time update for Season Two Reloaded, which will include these optimizations and is necessary in order to reduce the overall footprint; future patch sizes for Modern Warfare and Warzone are expected to be smaller

“Along with the ability to remove individual modes that are no longer played, owners of the full Modern Warfare experience will see more space freed on their platform of choice.

“However, those who want to continue playing Campaign, Multiplayer, and/or Special Ops will need to reinstall the optimized Content Packs, which will be released alongside and shortly after the Season Two Reloaded update.”

Call of Duty Warzone: Activision release trailer for new game

A message from Treyarch adds: “Raven will begin rolling out the new Warzone update at 11PM PT March 30th / 2AM ET March 31st. Keep an eye on Raven Software for upcoming patch notes.”

Raven has not shared its own list of patch notes for Call of Duty Warzone at this point in time.

However, more news is expected to arrive before the new update goes live across PS4, Xbox One and PC.

This will details all the latest changes, with weapon tuning and map changes expected.

And from what has been shared already, gamers will also get two new Operators, the new ZRG 20mm sniper rifle, and new bundles that will be available in Warzone.
