Xbox Lockhart rumours stoked by mysterious white controller

A supposedly leaked image of a white Xbox controller has led to further rumours about the existence of the Lockhart console.

There have been numerous rumours and clues pointing towards the existence of more than one next gen Xbox console, with one being codenamed Lockhart and assumed to have the final name of Xbox Series S.

At this point, it feels like the only thing we’re waiting for is for Microsoft to come out and actually confirm it, but the company has remained rather quiet about the possibility of multiple new consoles.

Over the weekend, a new picture of a white version of the Xbox Series X controller surfaced online via a Reddit post.

According to the user, Wolfy_Wizzardo, the photo was taken at a party in the state of Washington, which was being hosted by the child of a Microsoft employee.

The post and user account have since been deleted, but not before images of the controller were shared elsewhere online.

The Verge was able to speak with the user before the deletion, who claims to have also played games on the associated console. They describe it as being white and ‘more squarish,’ with a bigger Xbox button on it.

If we take what they say at face value, it’s possible that the console was simply a white version of the Xbox Series X, but the console is hardly squarish, having previously being compared to a fridge.

The description more closely matches up with what fans believe the Lockhart looks like, which is meant to be a smaller, less powerful version of the Xbox Series X.

Xbox head Phil Spencer has implied that more than one console is in production, but as for when Microsoft will officially confirm this is anyone’s guess, especially since the Xbox Series X’s release date and pricing is still unknown.

The Xbox Series X is scheduled to release by the end of this year.
