Zelda Breath of the Wild 2 rival hits closed beta milestone and it’s great news for PS4

New open-world action-adventure games are being released this year but the list is unlikely to include The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2.

The Nintendo Switch exclusive remains shrouded in mystery and while we may get an update regarding the project soon, the chances are very slim it will include a release date.

And even if Nintendo does announce its launch plans for Link’s next adventure in the coming months, the chances of it including a Breath of the Wild 2 release date in 2020 are slim.

So what other projects are worth checking out across platforms like PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Mobile?

Genshin Impact is one action-adventure RPG that has been confirmed for 2020 on platforms like Mobile, PC and PS4.

Developed by miHoYo, the game’s aesthetics and open-world setting look to have been inspired by BOTW.

And with Zelda’s latest adventure being so wildly popular, it shouldn’t really be that shocking to see other developers attempt it.

The good news is that the Genshin Impact release appears to still be on course for 2020, with the next major milestone being a closed beta on PS4.

It was announced this week that the Genshin Impact beta will be held on July 2 across PS4, PC & mobile.

It should be noted that this will be the first time a Genshin Impact beta will have been held on PS4.

What will make this launch even more interesting is that it will be the final closed beta test being held, and also the first to offer a new cross-platform co-op mode.

The new co-op mode will allow gamers to join together in teams of four to hunt down monsters and delve into dungeons together, employing strategic combinations of skills and elements in battle.

A message from the development team adds: “During the beta, players will be able to explore Mondstadt and Liyue — two of the seven major cities in Teyvat — as well as the vast surrounding landscape full of creatures to encounter, enemies to fight, mysteries to solve, and hidden treasures to find.

“Players can build their four-person party from a wide range of playable characters, using their varying combat styles and elemental abilities to overcome different obstacles in the world.

“By switching characters in combat, players can experiment with elemental combos and master the art of striking down enemies with powerful chain reactions.”

For those who might not have heard of it, Genshin Impact is an open-world action RPG title set in the fantasy world known as Teyvat.

While it has drawn comparisons with Zelda games, Genshin Impact will offer element-based combat and exploration,

Players take on the role of the mysterious Traveler, who sets off on a journey to find their lost sibling and unravel the mysteries of Teyvat in addition to their own.

SO WHAT’S THE LATEST ON ZELDA BREATH OF THE WILD 2?

It has been over a year now since Nintendo last revealed news on Zelda Breath of the Wild 2.

The last time that Ninty made an official announcement about BoTW 2 was when the game was announced back at E3 2019.

Since then there had been hopes Breath of the Wild 2 fans would get an update at last year’s Game Awards ceremony, or during a June Nintendo Direct this year.

It had been hoped that Nintendo would reveal more on Breath of the Wild 2 during their next Direct, but that doesn’t look to be happening for a while.

Rumours have claimed that instead of holding their typical June Direct, the next major Direct could be happening at the end of the summer.

This could be the time we find out more about The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild 2.
