Pokemon Sword and Shield players in the US will soon be able to pick up another freebie for the games. From August 14 to 31, video game retailer GameStop will distribute a free Dynamax Crystal, Serebii reports. When used in the games, this crystal will summon a Gigantamax Copperajah Raid, giving you another chance to catch the G-Max Pokemon.
To claim the free Dynamax Crystal, you’ll need to have the Pokemon Pass app installed on your phone. Use the app while at a participating GameStop store and you’ll receive a download code for the crystal. You’ll then need to input that code in your copy of Sword or Shield via Mystery Gift to download the item.
When activated, the Dynamax Crystal will summon a Gigantamax Copperajah Raid at the Watchtower Lair just outside of Motostoke. This particular Copperajah will have perfect IVs in its HP, Attack, and Special Attack stats. Keep in mind that you’ll need to have a Pokemon Trainer Club account to use Pokemon Pass. You can download the app for free from Google Play or the App Store.
In other Pokemon news, another Max Raid event is currently underway in the games. Until August 31, Ground- and Water-type Pokemon like Gastrodon, Milotic, Hippowdon, and Quagsire will appear more frequently in Max Raid dens across the Wild Area and the Isle of Armor. Gigantamax versions of Drednaw and Sandaconda also have increased spawn rates during the event, giving you a better chance of encountering them.
Sword and Shield released back in November 2019 and have been huge hits for Nintendo. The pair have moved a combined 18 million units as of June 30, making them the third-best-selling Pokemon games to date. Their first DLC expansion, The Isle of Armor, released back in June, while The Crown Tundra expansion is slated to follow sometime this fall.
