Baldur’s Gate III developer Larian Studios has announced an Early Access release date for the upcoming PC and Stadia game, along with some details about just how huge the game is going to be. While you might think that an Early Access release means that you won’t be getting a full experience, Baldur’s Gate III is shaping up to be absolutely enormous when it lands next month.
During the Panel from Hell livestream, Larian Studios creative director Swen Vincke followed up on previous comments about how much bigger the game would be than Divinity: Original Sin II, the studio’s previous game. Here are the figures he gave to showcase the size of the Early Access release.
- Number of combat scenarios: 80 (22 in D:OSII)
- Lines of dialog: 45,980 (17,600 in D:OSII)
- Number of characters: 596 (142 in D:OSII)
- Number of spells/actions: 146 (69 in D:OSII)
The video released today also showed off how different choices players make will change how encounters and dialog plays out–even in Early Access, Larian Studios wants it to be the case that the game will be different if they play it through multiple times.
Baldur’s Gate III will soon be upon us, although Larian Studios notes that there’s still plenty of work to be done–hopefully there won’t be another delay.
In the meantime, it might be worth familiarizing yourself with the previous two games.
