Censored horror game Devotion returns with a physical release

Taiwanese horror game Devotion is returning to the market with a physical copy, though not in the West yet.

The physical copy of the game is only available for fans in Taiwan via pre-order from June 8 until June 15 and it appears to come with a handful of eerie bonus goodies. It’s unknown if Devotion’s physical copy will get an English release, but we hope so. Polygon has reached out to Red Candle Games for comment and will update this post when more information becomes available.

Devotion, a horror game from the team behind Detention that was met with critical acclaim, was removed from Steam after the game included negative remarks about Chinese president Xi Jinping. Red Candle Games, the studio behind Devotion, apologized and pulled the game in February 2019, following a review bombing by upset Chinese fans. The studio noted that it had to do a “complete QA check.” It has not returned to any digital storefront since then.
