Bungie fixing Destiny 2’s bugged ‘The Lie’ quest on Thursday

Last week, Bungie launched a new quest, called “The Lie,” in Destiny 2. It’s the last data-mined event for Season of the Worthy — aside from whatever damages the Tower — and will likely reward the beloved Felwinter’s Lie shotgun from the original Destiny. But the quest has created all sorts of problems for players, and the final step is currently impossible to complete, thanks to a bug.

With some background server preparation on Wednesday, Bungie plans to solve the quest-breaking bug with a hotfix on Thursday.

On May 12, Bungie launched “The Lie,” which asked the community to collectively complete 9,000,000 public events in-game. After slow progress over 24 hours, Bungie added a multiplier to the quest.

Late Sunday night, players finished the required public events and embarked on the rest of the quest steps — including farming 1,000 shotgun kills. But on the final step, players hit a bug that broke the quest. Since its discovery on Sunday, nobody has been able to get past this bug.

Once Bungie publishes the hotfix on Thursday, players should be able to log in and complete the quest for their Felwinter’s Lie shotgun.
